Pistol shooting has grown to become a major leading sport in Australia. Pistol club further encourages the spirit of sportsmanship in target shooting by bringing together different individuals with talent in the sport of target shooting.

At pistol club we bring to reality career goals and dreams for different individuals, our range of activities is tailored for different age categories as well as professionals. From the junior members of Pistol Australia to professionals that partake in national championships, we have well-defined exercise program that hones the talents of each individual and brings them out to the spotlight

Pistol Australia serves as the national coordinator of target shooting in Australia, also responsible for hosting competitions across States/Territories. We work closely with the national body for coherence with policies and guidelines issued from time to time and to have members participate in events and competitions.

We constantly make available relevant information to our members, information about updated policies, acquiring a firearm permit or licence. Some of the areas we focus on in terms of target sport shooting include:

Legislations

The national body for pistol shooting in Australia has laws that regulate pistol clubs and shooting. There are different legislations drafted for each state either for a licence to operate a firearm or a permit to acquire one.

National Coaching Council

The National Council is a subgroup of Pistol Australia to develop coaching activities in the state and territories of Australia. The coaching activities comprises an educational curriculum and training program that will involve the development of members of the national and states squad.

Pistol Australia identifies individuals that meet the requirement to be part of Australia’s national team, the talents are developed to proceed to the next stage of Shooting Australia Commonwealth Games and ultimately the Olympic Games Teams.

National Junior Camp

The National Junior Camp is focused on giving advanced training to young shooters to help develop their technical skills, mental and physical fitness. The aim is to develop this set of individuals in the sport of target shooting.

National Championships

Disciplines

There are various disciplines set for pistol shooting in Australia and internationally. The disciplines include International Sport Shooting Federation, Pistol Australia matches, WA 1500 match, Metallic Silhouette, Action Pistol.

Sanctioning

For competitions to be recognised as a sanctioned competition, it needs to be approved by Pistol Australia making it a valid national team qualifier. Some requirements need to be met before a competition can be sanctioned.
